Investigating the Relationship between Unemployment and Inflation in Nigeria

This study considered the impact of inflation on unemployment in Nigeria viz avis selected macroeconomic variables. The researcher adopted co integration, vector error correction model and VEC Granger causality test econometric procedure analysis data employed. specific objectives are; (i) to determine extent which within period study, (ii) examine if government expenditure have any significant (iii) estimate foreign direct investment study; (iv) investigate direction between study. results research revealed long run relationship among estimated variables, VECM result showed a positive short run, maintained negative with both run. indicated UNEM, INF TGEX. recommended that should focus policy strategy can attract into country, try maintain low rate through suitable monetary policy; encourage platforms enabling environment for effective efficient national output; Government consciously increase fiscal space capital activities projects are capable generating income, domestic public spending, improve economic status reduce unemployment. paper concluded Philip’s curve hypothesis does not apply as failed establish an inverse postulated by A.W. Philips.
